Fitou is a winemakers' village. Its appellation, Fitou AOC, created in 1948, is the oldest red wine appellation of the Languedoc, and the vines come right up to the contemporary neighbourhood on the heights where Villa Container Fitou stands. From the terrace, the view runs over the vineyards, the garrigue, the Leucate lagoon and the sea. For a holiday built around wine, it is hard to be better placed.
Tastings with the winemakers, minutes away
The cellars and estates of Fitou AOC and the Corbieres are a few minutes from the villa: tastings with the producers, cellar visits, bottles to take home. The Corbieres hinterland, with its vineyard huts and its viewpoints over the lagoons, is also walking country, between the vines in every season.

Muscat de Rivesaltes and the sweet wines
Just south, around Rivesaltes, the natural sweet wines of Rivesaltes and the Muscat de Rivesaltes are the other face of the local terroir: wines to taste with the producers at aperitif time, facing the lagoons, and to bring back to the villa's terrace at sunset.
The harvest, in autumn
September and October are the grape harvest in Fitou and the Corbieres: the vines turn gold, the villages are busy, the sea is still warm, and the villa's pool is heated all year round. It is one of the best times to come, with gentler rates than in summer.
A welcome basket with a bottle of Fitou AOC
When you book, you can add a welcome basket waiting for you on arrival: a bottle of Fitou AOC, olive oil, honey, fleur de sel from Sete and local produce. The rest of the villa is made for long evenings: a 130 sqm architect villa built from recycled containers, four bedrooms sleeping eight, an open fitted kitchen facing the sunset, a raised wooden terrace with garden furniture, and the heated pool.

Perpignan airport is 25 minutes away, the beaches of Leucate and La Franqui 15 minutes, Narbonne about twenty minutes, Carcassonne about an hour.
