Tennis a short walk away
Fitou's municipal tennis court is about ten metres from the villa, and it is rarely busy: you play when you like, without booking days ahead. Bring your rackets.
Wind and water sports
- Kitesurfing and windsurfing: Leucate, 15 minutes away, is Europe's second-largest kitesurf spot and hosts the Mondial du Vent every spring.
- Paddleboarding on sheltered water: Fitou lake, less than 10 minutes away, and the La Palme lagoon, ideal for beginners.
- Sailing and jet ski: sailing schools, boat hire and water sports bases in Leucate and Port-Barcarès.
- Swimming: the long sandy beaches of Leucate and La Franqui, and the villa's heated pool.
On foot and by quad
The Corbieres and the garrigue can be explored on foot from Fitou, with the village's medieval castle and the Cathar castles of Quéribus, Peyrepertuse and Aguilar as hiking goals. Quad rides start in Fitou itself.
Skiing in winter
From December to March, the slopes of Font-Romeu Pyrénées 2000 are 1 hr 40 from the villa. Font-Romeu is reputed to be France's sunniest ski resort, with 325 days of sunshine a year: ski in the morning, heated pool in the evening, with a sea view.
